The Model NATO Challenge is a scholarship competition in which the top 28 applicants along with 6 alternates are chosen to participate in a mock global crisis simulation, confronting issues facing today’s NATO Alliance.  28 Student Diplomats are chosen to represent each of the 28 NATO Member Countries. Student Diplomats must work together to address a crisis scenario such a piracy, immigration or another issue that faces the NATO Alliance today. Student Diplomats are assigned Mentors, military officers from each of the 28 countries, who assist in preparing the students for the challenge while teaching them about their culture, national military resources and political backgrounds.
Student Diplomats will be judged on their leadership and diplomacy skills and the top Six Finalists are awarded Scholarships!

This year’s Model NATO Challenge will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Virginia Wesleyan College!

To apply for the Model NATO Challenge, students must complete the Application, which includes an essay and a letter of recommendation. Based on the combined score of their Application Essay and their performance in the Challenge Simulation, the Top Three Finalists are awarded Scholarships to the College or University of their choice!
